Cloud Application Developer 


We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cloud Application Developer to manage and maintain Audit Scotland’s application suite.  This exciting role will be based in our Digital Services Development Team and will use agile principles to develop new applications in our cloud platform, positively impacting and improving how Audit Scotland operates. We want to hear from candidates that are motivated by making a difference; to those you serve in the organisation, to the public sector and to the services Audit Scotland provides the Scottish public.

Overall purpose of the role 


Working alongside our Database Developer and Digital Project Manager in the Digital Services Development Team, you will work using agile principles to develop new applications in our cloud platform, positively impacting and improving how Audit Scotland operates.  You will manage and maintain Audit Scotland’s application suite to ensure it remains functional, secure and current.  Where necessary, you will also provide some third line support for our internal systems alongside the IT Service Desk. 


Location :  Flexibly based across Scotland, frequent attendance in our Edinburgh office will be required.


How you can help us 


Your responsibilities will include: 



  • Development, integration, deployment and support of our cloud apps.  
     

  • Develop and support apps mainly from the Microsoft stack including Power Apps and Power Automate. 



  • Develop and support apps which will integrate and improve our enterprise Microsoft services - SharePoint Online, Office 365, Teams. 



  • Use third party APIs to communicate between internal and external services, and to retrieve data ready for importing into our data warehouse. 



  • Develop and design new data driven responsive web apps that integrate with SQL data sources and other data interfaces. 
     

  • Work in an Agile environment with the SQL Developer and the Digital Project Manager, taking part in stand-ups, consulting on client requirements and working in timeboxed sprints to deliver new functionality to our colleagues. 



  • Provide technical information and app demonstrations at meetings across Audit Scotland and externally as required.  
     

  • Build key relationships with internal and external stakeholders and understand their needs and negotiate viable solutions. 


Specific knowledge and experience 


You will be an experienced software developer, likely with a degree in the computing or data field, with a good understanding of cloud applications and infrastructure. You are likely to have: 



  • Essential, relevant development experience and a deep understanding of developing and maintaining secure and resilient cloud applications, preferably within Azure. 

  • an understanding of developing or supporting Power Apps and Power Automate flows. 

  • experience of working with third-party APIs to maximise the usefulness of apps.

  • the ability to work seamlessly within a development team, preferably using an Agile or Lean project methodology.  

  • experience of working through your tasks independently and capable of making sound technical decisions yourself or with the team. 

  • strong verbal and written communication skills and sound judgement to present complex solutions in a clear and understandable manner. 

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.  

  • refined project and self-management skills.
