If you feel university is not for you and you want to enter the world of work while training for a professional accounting qualification, then join us on our five-year school leaver programme. You will earn a competitive salary whilst gaining vital on-the-job experience as an auditor and studying towards your ICAS qualification. 

We are Scotland’s public sector auditor, independent of the Government. We audit the financial statements of Local Authorities, Health Boards and Central Government bodies and evaluate their performance in delivering services and providing value for money. We employ around 320 exceptional professionals from different backgrounds who all share a belief that public money should be spent wisely.  We know our important work makes a real difference to the lives of Scotland’s people and you’ll be a valued part of our audit team.

We currently have opportunities available across Scotland with our offices based in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. We also have a small team based in Aberdeen. Although we are currently working from home due to the current Covid-19 suppression measures, the role will involve a presence at one of our office locations and some travel to client sites, as circumstances and Scottish Government guidance allow.

You’ll need these skills and qualifications: 

- Have achieved or are expected to achieve good results in Higher English and Maths (or equivalent) by summer 2022 (any job offer would be conditional on achieving the expected results)
Good communication and interpersonal skills 
- Self-awareness and confidence to work using initiative 
- An interest in Audit Scotland, Auditing, Accountancy or the public sector  
- You work well as part of a team 
- Ability to gather, interpret and analyse information  

You will also need to be eligible to work in the UK.
