Location: Our offices are based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness  


Type: Permanent role 


Salary: £26,142 to 28,450 per annum, plus competitive benefits.  


Hours: 36.25 hours

Overall purpose of the role


We’re searching for a talented Audit and Business Assistant with exceptional organisational and administrative skills to join our award-winning Business Support team, which is integral in supporting everything that Audit Scotland does. Audit and Business Assistants provide world-class business support to our client facing audit teams and internal corporate teams.

You go out of your way to meet business needs as part of a Business Support team that provides a seamless shared service support for all of Audit Scotland.  You enjoy working with different teams and the variety this brings to your working day.


You are a business support professional who takes enormous pride in supporting and assisting teams to deliver on their objectives. You will also enjoy making a difference to the Business Support team’s continuous improvement. Organisation is one of your key strengths and you have experience in supporting individuals and teams. You are proactive and use your initiative to spot where you can add support to make a positive difference. You also have meticulous attention to detail and deliver the highest quality of work.  You are committed to your own personal learning and development and seek out areas where you can add value, not only to the team but to the wider organisation.


Specific knowledge and experience


You are an experienced business support professional (perhaps in a customer service focussed environment or project support role), and have the following knowledge and experience:



  • A good standard of education, perhaps some higher/further education qualifications or specific administration or customer care training/qualifications.

  • Experience of working in a business support shared service environment providing a range of administrative support to a team or teams.

  • Experience in supporting corporate forums or acting as team secretariat. Issuing papers, setting up meetings, taking minutes and maintaining action trackers

  • Experience of learning and using new systems to carry out work.

  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft office skills with proven ability to apply their use to your role.

  • Specific experience of formatting documents and applying style using MS Word.

  • Specific experience of using SharePoint, uploading documents, and maintaining files.

  • Experience of managing a varied workload and balancing priorities.

  • Experience of supporting projects and perhaps project management tools.

  • Experience of contributing to overall team improvement and working to streamline processes.

  • Experience of using your initiative to add value and identifying where improvements can be made.

  • Experience of establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues at all levels of an organisation.

  • Excellent communication skills. You are proactive and keep colleagues informed and updated at every step.

  • You have experience of hybrid working and have adapted well to managing your own workload as part of a busy team that works from home and in the office when it’s required.
